Corfu Guide.
Corfu is lush, varied and noticeably different from the dry Cycladic landscape. The UNESCO-listed old town, green interior, small coves and villages make it an island where a road trip and food stops matter just as much as beach time.
Best for
Green scenery, Corfu Old Town, coves and food
How long
4–7 days
Getting there
Corfu has an international airport and ferry connections with mainland Greece and nearby Ionian destinations.
Plan your stay
Choose a side of the island each day.
Corfu is large, green and varied, with an old town, dramatic coasts, small villages and excellent food. It is most enjoyable when you stop trying to cross the whole island every day.
Give Corfu Town an evening
The old town is more than a quick sightseeing stop: stay for the lanes, architecture and dinner.
Separate north, west and east
Each area has a different feel, so plan day trips by coast rather than jumping between distant beaches.
Add one boat day
A Paxi and Blue Caves cruise is an easy way to see the Ionian water and coastline from another angle.
Where to stay
Corfu Town is best for culture and dining; the north-east is quieter and scenic; west-coast bases suit beach and sunset days.
Getting around
A car makes a huge difference on Corfu. The island is bigger than many visitors expect and public transport will slow down a multi-area itinerary.
How long to stay
Five nights is a good minimum. A week gives you Corfu Town, different coastlines, food stops and a boat day without repeated long drives.

Good to know
Before you go
The island stretches much farther north and south than many visitors expect. Pick daily areas rather than repeatedly crossing the whole island.
