Start on the Buda side for the broadest view over the Danube. From up high, the bridges, Parliament and the curve of the river make the city feel much bigger than it does at street level.

It is the classic quick Budapest stop: fried dough, usually loaded with cheese and toppings. Not elegant, but exactly the kind of food you want after a day walking around the city.

See the Danube views in daylight, return to the river once the buildings are lit, then pick somewhere casual for dinner nearby.
