Kimolos Guide.
Kimolos is one of the quieter Cycladic islands: whitewashed Chorio, clear water and a much less polished feel than the bigger-name islands. It works especially well if you want a few genuinely slow days rather than a packed sightseeing itinerary.
Best for
Quiet beaches, small villages and a slower pace
How long
2–4 days
Getting there
By ferry, most easily via nearby Milos or other Cycladic islands.
Plan your stay
A slower Cycladic island, best enjoyed without over-planning.
Kimolos works when you let the day stay simple: Chorio for wandering, a swim at whichever beach looks best, and a long dinner rather than a packed list of stops.
Stay around Chorio
The main village gives you the most character, easy evenings and a central base for exploring the rest of the small island.
Make time for the coast
The water, coves and colourful fishing-settlement feel are the reason to come. Do not try to squeeze them into one afternoon.
Pair it with Milos
Kimolos is ideal as the quieter counterpoint to Milos, especially if you want a few days with a much slower rhythm.
Where to stay
Chorio is the easiest all-round base. Choose a coastal stay only if you are happy with a quieter evening and less immediate access to restaurants.
Getting around
A car or scooter gives you the most freedom, though the island is small enough that you can keep plans relaxed rather than driving constantly.
How long to stay
Two nights works for a taste; three or four nights gives you time for unhurried swims, Chorio and the coastline.
Good to know
Before you go
It is small enough to keep the plan loose. Build the trip around beaches, Chorio and long meals rather than trying to fill every hour.
