Malta · Gozo · Comino
Malta, Gozo & Comino.
A compact Mediterranean trip with a little bit of everything: historic streets, clear water, dramatic coastlines and easy island-hopping.
Best for: A long weekend or a slower five-night break
01
Make Malta your starting point
Use Malta for the first part of the trip. Valletta is easy to explore on foot, while the island’s coastline and older towns make good day trips when you want to get beyond the capital.
02
Give Gozo more than a day if you can
Gozo has a quieter rhythm than Malta. It is the place to slow down, spend time by the sea and choose one or two areas rather than trying to race across the island.
03
Visit Comino early
Comino is best known for its bright blue water. Go early, especially in warmer months, and treat it as a swim stop rather than an all-day itinerary with too much to fit in.
04
Keep the route simple
This works best as Malta first, then Gozo, with Comino slotted in around the weather and ferry conditions. Leave room for unplanned beach time.

Practical guide
Getting around
- • On Malta, buses connect the main towns but take longer than the map suggests; a hire car gives the most flexibility if you are comfortable driving on the left.
- • Use the Gozo ferry or fast ferry according to your base and timing.
- • On Gozo, a car or quad makes the island far easier; taxis and buses work for a slower stay.
- • Comino is reached by small boats—go early and check weather conditions.
Best areas
- • Valletta for history, restaurants and a compact city base.
- • Sliema or St Julian’s for a more connected waterfront stay.
- • Victoria/Rabat on Gozo for transport and restaurants, or the coast for a quieter escape.
Best things to do
- • Explore Valletta and the Three Cities.
- • Spend a full day on Gozo for Victoria, the coast and slower village stops.
- • Visit Comino’s Blue Lagoon early, then leave time for a quieter swim spot.
