Elafonisos

The place

Why it is worth the stop

Elafonisos fits naturally into a mainland Greece road trip even though the final hop is by ferry. The island is best known for pale sand, clear water and an easy beach-focused rhythm.

Treat it as a deliberate coastal stop rather than a rushed detour. The short crossing makes it straightforward to pair with southern Laconia and the wider Peloponnese.

My visit

A personal note

The pale sand and clear, shallow water are the reason I would make time for Elafonisos on a Peloponnese trip.
