Small Cyclades · Greece
Iraklia Guide.
Iraklia is tiny, calm and deliberately low-key. The appeal is the clear water, little harbour, quiet beaches and the feeling that very little needs to be planned in advance.
Best for
Clear water, quiet harbours and switching off
How long
2–3 days
Getting there
Iraklia is reached by ferry; there is no airport on the island.
Plan your stay
Come to switch off, not to tick off attractions.
Iraklia is one of the Small Cyclades for quiet harbour days, clear water and a much more stripped-back kind of island stay.
Slow down around Agios Georgios
The harbour village is where the ferry arrives and where the island's easy evening rhythm is most obvious.
Walk or boat to the water
The appeal is the coastline rather than a checklist of sights, so leave time for swimming and simple coastal walks.
Combine it with another Small Cyclades island
Iraklia is small enough to work beautifully as one calm stop within a longer island-hopping route.
Where to stay
Agios Georgios is the most convenient place to stay, especially without your own transport.
Getting around
Walking works for some routes; taxis and local boats are useful when you want to reach beaches without making the whole day a hike.
How long to stay
Two or three nights is enough for a reset. Stay longer only if you specifically want a very quiet beach break.
Good to know
Before you go
Come here for simplicity rather than a long list of attractions. It pairs particularly well with other Small Cyclades islands.
I’m continuing to add more of my own photographs, exact recommendations and detailed itineraries to each island guide.
