Why it is worth the stop
Gytheio and the nearby shipwreck make a useful combination on a drive through Laconia: a coastal town followed by one of the area's most recognisable beach stops.
This works best as part of a road-trip day rather than a single isolated sight, leaving time for the waterfront and the surrounding Mani coastline.
